The basis of the system is a malleable metal frame encapsulated by a cross linked EVA closed cell foam. This removable "Fformat” is easily manipulated to customise the fit of the pack, and also to be used as a sit mat or in emergencies (many people have used Fformats as splints). Using raised scapula pads ensures good support and transfer of load energy to the shoulder area and also safeguards overheating of the back.
